Traditional South Pacific dances are as varied as the islands they come from. Imagine, a riveting dance review with exotic traditional dancing and costumes. At Germaine's, you'll experience the explosive, fast-paced dancing of Tahiti, as well as the romantic sway of the Hawaiian hula. For many, the highlight will be the Samoan fire dance as the kane's tame the fire.

Typically set to pulsing baritone drums which sets the rhythmic and fast paced beat, Tahitian dancing will take your breath away. The passion of the Tahitian people is expressed best in this powerful dance form originally used for seduction and well as challenging a fight. The throbbing of the drums is punctuated by the seductive and quick hip movements of the beautiful Tahitian dancers costumed in memorable brightly colored ware which includes large colorful head dresses and grass skirts which often feature a gathering of feathers, shells and grass at the hips to accent the quick-paced hip movement of this expressive form of dance.

The Samoan fire dance is a luau highlight. The kane (men) wear traditional lava lave (sarongs), leaving their chests bare. During the dance the kane use spinning and gyrating fire along with native slapping of the chest, thighs and arms to the beat of the drums to demonstrate their dominance and strength. The kane will leave no doubt about their vigor as they move gracefully and powerfully across the stage in the tribal tradition.

Grass skirts whisper across the stage, and gentle hands coax a hypnotic story. Traditional Hawaiian hula is a slower, more gentle pace and draws the audience into the stories about old Hawaiian life, love and the beautiful surroundings of the Hawaiian islands. Native Hawaiians originally only performed Hula during religious ceremony as a sign of respect for the Hawaiian god (or goddess) who first performed a Hula. Many Hula aficionados say that to understand the Hula is to understand the Hawaiian culture. The gentle pace matches the gentle breeze as beautiful Hawaiian women share the dance of their past with you.
